Kasara Ghat
One of the most scenic and dangerous mountain passes in India, built through the Thal Ghat.
Kasara Ghat, also known as Thal Ghat, is a major mountain pass linking the coastal Konkan region to the high plateau of the Deccan. It is one of the steepest and most scenic road and rail stretches in the country. The pass is famous for its hairpin turns, deep valleys, and the historic railway viaducts that span massive chasms.
For anyone arriving by train, the journey through the tunnels and across the bridges of Kasara Ghat is an experience in itself. During the monsoon, the ghat is cloaked in clouds, and waterfalls erupt from every mountain face, making it look like a scene from a fantasy movie. It is both a marvel of engineering and a masterpiece of nature.
